I think it leans because it is sinking because of the it's weight, you will have to tell if I am right. Grandma
Hi Callum, Great photo of you holding up the tower. I think it leans because of the magnetic field that is pulling it down on one side. Hee hee, just joking.
I think the ground is subsiding under it.
My neighbours house had subsidence and they had to demolish it, fix the ground, so that it wont happen again and they are now building another house, with better foundations.
Hi Callum from Hb10. We have come up with a few ideas about why we think the tower leans. let us know if we're right!
Tyler thinks: It's probably made like that. George: The foundations weren't right and it started leaning. Charlotte B: It's meant to look like that and it's a feature. Hunter: A piece fell off. Ataahua/Kane: The wind might have blown it over. Amy: I think it was built like that so it could stand against the weather. Yelena: I think it's on a lean because it's too heavy and really old, and it's slowly started to fall.
We wondered why has it not fallen over yet? Is it still falling down?
What I originally thought was that an earthquake caused it. The real reason is the foundations weren't strong enough to hold it up and it started leaning.
It hasn't fallen over yet because there were two big wars that stopped all the work. This helped the tower to settle. If they had done it in one go it would have fallen over.
No it isn't still falling down. it is expected to last 200 year before it could fall down.

We can't wait to find out what the reason is!!!
